Alban Sumana Bagbin, former MP for Nadowli-Kaleo in the Upper West region has been elected Speaker of Parliament.
He defeated the immediate Past Speaker Professor Aaron Mike Ocquaye, by a difference of two votes to win the seat.
Bagbin has been in Parliament since the advent of the 4th Republic and has served virtually in all positions available in the House.
The Clerk to Parliament, Mr Cyril Nsiah declared Bagbin winner after a dramatic election process characterised by ballots snatching incident, a military intervention and near fisticuffs.
