Alhaji Farouk Aliu Mahama, a son of former Vice President Aliu Mahama, Thursday morning picked nomination forms to contest the upcoming primaries of the New Patriotic Party in the Yendi Constituency of the Northern Region.
He was accompanied by his supporters to the Yendi Constituency office of the party where he picked the forms from the Constituency Secretary, Mr Fusheini Baba Zakaria.
Speaking after picking his forms, Alhaji Farouk Mahama said he was moved by his desire to change the fortunes of the Yendi Constituency, a course his late father fought for.
“I want to leave a mark that there are people who are ready to change the game in Yendi,” he said, pledging to make Yendi the most developed city in the Northern region.
The founder for Partnership for Poverty Reduction (PPR), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), said through his NGO, he had helped many people in the constituency in the areas of health, agriculture, education and employment.
He explained that his focus was not on the primaries and that he was looking at winning the Yendi seat for the party in the 2020 general elections.
“I am looking beyond primaries. I am looking at winning the seat for Yendi Constituency,” he stated, calling on the constituents to throw their support behind him both at the primaries and in the main elections to enable him bring the needed development to the area.
He called for unity in the party in order to enable it win the seat in the 2020 elections.
