Presiding and Assembly Members throughout the country are calling on government to pay them allowances or salary from the consolidated fund.
They asked government to appreciate the role and work of Assembly members and pay them at least one thousand Ghana cedis each to enable them deliver on their mandate.
The Presiding member of the Sunyani West District Assembly Bernard Oduro Takyi, said they also deal with constituents just as MPs and the Executive.
Mr. Takyi said for Ghana’s Democracy to be deepened, government must set the ball rolling now by considering the plea of Assembly members since as he put it the President is a listening President.
