The Minority Leader Dr. Ato Forson has cautioned the incoming NDC Government not to engage in mass corruption allegations against the outgoing NPP government. “NDC political party and in-coming government, may we never become like the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government”.
According to him, “we have to be different” and they cannot be like this NPP government, “may we be guided by the principles of integrity, probity and accountability”.
He said the time has come for them to do right by the people of Ghana at all times and to champion people-centered policies that genuinely benefit the voter, not the political class and their cronies.
Addressing colleagues at the commencement of The Seventh Meeting of the Fourth Session of the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic, delivered in Parliament Dr. Ato Forson announced that the NDC has snatched over 50 parliamentary seats from the NPP which clearly shown that “it is possible to reduce the NPP Majority to “nkokor nkiti nkiti”. Indeed, “nkokor nkiti nkiti” is possible!”
Dr. Forson mentioned that, the just-ended general election was a revolt against a government that is obstinate, insensitive, high-handed and dismissive of public opinion, “it was a revolt against a government that called people with dissenting views names such as detractors, cynics, naysayers, Sanbalat and Tobias”.
“Ghanaians have clearly shown that they cannot be taken for granted and that when it matters the most, they will either reward those in government or punish them for their sins,” he added.
The Majority Leader Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin and the Member of Parliament for the Effutu constituency, Central Region use the occasioned to remind the NDC of their campaign promises and called on the incoming government to by its promised relative to tax reforms and other reforms promised Ghanaian upon which they are voted for.
