All is set for the 20th edition of Mission Africa Incorporated’s annual African Union (AU) Day Prayer Conference, scheduled to take place on May 25, 2024, in Accra, Ghana.
The annual African Union (AU) Day Prayer Conference is an initiative by Mission Africa Incorporated in collaboration with the Parliament of Ghana, Inlanad Empire concerned African American churches, California-USA, and the nation’s broadcaster, the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation.
The keynote speaker to speak at the 2024 edition of the Prayer Conference is the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban S. K. Bagbin.
Other speakers are the Founding President of Mission Africa Incorporated, Dr. Kodjoe Sumney; founder of Worldwide Miracle Outreach, Dr. Lawrence Tetteh; Apostle Eric Kwabena Nyamekye, Chairman of Church of Pentecost; Rt. Rev. Dr. Abrahim Nana Opare Kwakye-Presby Moderator; and Mr. Emmanuel Bedzirah, Chairman of the Parliamentary Christian Fellowship.
The rest are Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee, founder of Salt & Light Ministries; Apostle Abraham Lamptey, founder of Believers House of Worship International; Nene Kukrubour T. K. Agyemang, Chief of Dodowa; and Dr. Mrs. Akosuah Sumney, Vice President of Mission Africa Inc.
Speaking in an exclusive interview with GBCGHANAONLINE’s Franklin ASARE-DONKOH, the Founding President of Mission Africa Inc., Dr. Kodjoe Sumney, hinted that the 2024 edition of the AU Day Prayer Conference will be in two parts.
According to him, the first part of the AU Day Prayer Conference will happen on May 25, a day set aside to commemorate the AU Day celebrations. It will be held on Zoom, the Facebook pages of Mission Africa, and other social media platforms, while the second part, which will come in the form of prayer festival, will be held at the forecourt of Parliament of Ghana in late November 2024.
“The prayer festival in November 2024 will bring together some renowned African American pastors, to join their Ghanaian counterparts to pray for the African continent and Ghana, especially as the country prepares for its presidential and parliamentary elections in December,” he explained.
The theme for the Zoom event is “Solutions for Peaceful Elections, Graduates and Youth Unemployment Evidence for Reparation.”
While the theme for the November edition (part two of the AU Day Prayer Conference) is “Peaceful Elections and African economic development …Bringing the gap between the Diaspora Returnees.”
Again, the November edition, according to the organisers, is geared towards promoting the government’s dual citizenship agenda and also for easy facilitation of Ghanaian-American citizens coming home to participate in the upcoming general elections.
The November edition of the AU Day Prayer Conference will be chaired by Mr Peter Kwesi Terkper, CEO of 3T Aromatic Services Ltd.
Dr. Kodjoe Sumney has, therefore, called on the general public to participate fully during the two activities to pray for the most prosperous continent in the world but yet the poorest in terms of its human and economic development.
Mission Africa’s strong advocacy, presence, and network abroad, especially in the USA, seems to be paying off as most people of African origin are returning home, especially in Ghana.
Again, the promotion of the Year of Return and Beyond by the Mission has helped motivate some sons and daughters of African origin who have returned home to help the development of the continent of their birth.
Ghana, for instance, has witnessed remarkable inflows from the diaspora through investment, humanitarian work, building churches in remote areas and schools, etc.
Through Dr Kodjoe Sumney’s visionary leadership style, his, Mission Africa team and partners have brought over 1200 African Americans, friends, and tourists to boost Ghana‘s tourism industry.
According to the Ghana Tourist Board, Ghana is now generating about three billion dollars ($3b) through tourism.
The recent declaration by a renowned African-American singer and songwriter, Steve Wonder, to settle in Ghana and further swearing of the Oath of Allegiance and subsequently receiving his certificate of citizenship to become a Ghanaian citizen is a testament to many good things to come.
Mission Africa Bible Skills & Business College, Media College, Mission Africa Institute of Technology, daycare schools, Sumney International Academy, and Mission Africa Kingdom churches are some of the many achievements of Mission Africa Inc. over the last two decades.
