Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has recalled Members of Parliament to convene on November 7, citing Article 112 (3) of the Constitution and Standing Orders 5 and 53.

This move follows a Supreme Court directive to stay his prior ruling on four vacant parliamentary seats. The court subsequently dismissed the Speaker’s stay application on October 30.

The November 7 session will commence at 10 a.m. at the Accra International Conference Centre. Although the agenda remains undisclosed, urgent national matters are likely to be addressed. Members are expected to arrive promptly.

According to the notice sent on Thursday, October 31, arrangements have been specified for the sitting. Additionally, Speaker Bagbin referenced a communication from the Supreme Court directing him to stay his prior ruling that declared four parliamentary seats vacant.

This recall comes after Speaker Bagbin’s indefinite adjournment of parliamentary proceedings on October 22, following tensions between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) over majority status.
