Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s Presidential Candidate, has pointed out the Akufo-Addo government’s successes in creating jobs, saying it has done better than previous governments.
Dr. Bawumia, during his meeting with the youth in Accra on Sunday, November 3, referred to data from the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) and other sources, which show that about 2.6 million jobs have been created—1.4 million in the private sector and 1.2 million in the public sector.
Dr. Bawumia said this accomplishment demonstrates the government’s commitment to improving Ghana’s economy and creating opportunities for the people.
He also acknowledged the ongoing economic challenges but promised to continue creating jobs if elected in December.
“We have done very well in creating jobs over the past seven years. Based on the latest data from SSNIT and other sources, we have created 2.6 million jobs from 2017 to 2024. This includes 1.4 million jobs in the private sector and 1.2 million in the public sector, which is the highest by any government in the 4th Republic. He said there is still more to do, as many young people are still unemployed.”
