Vice President and Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, says his administration will put in place policies and measures that will maximise benefits from the country’s natural resources like gold, lithium, and bauxite.

Addressing the nation on his vision if elected President, Dr. Bawumia said there will be value addition and Ghanaian ownership, leading to a new paradigm in natural resource contracts.

He stressed the need to formalise, regularise, and regulate environmentally sustainable small-scale mining in the country, adding that a Minerals Development Bank will be established.

He indicated that a gold refinery will be established, touting the achievements of the gold for oil policy introduced by the current administration.

On industrialisation, Dr. Bawumia said his administration will empower the local business sector, especially startups and SMEs, to drive investment and growth in Ghana.

Vice President Bawumia emphasised the need to put in place an effective credit system, like in advanced economies, to allow workers to easily access credit to purchase some basic items.

This, according to the Vice President, will lessen the burden on the Ghanaian worker.
