The Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mahamudu Bawumia, has filed his nomination for the presidential election.

During the filing process, Bawumia emphasised the importance of a peaceful election, stating, “We don’t want to tear down our country. It’s crucial that our country is uplifted after the election. Our prayers and behavior during this process will be vital in ensuring a peaceful outcome.”

He also expressed his trust in the Electoral Commission (EC), saying, “We don’t want to make the EC a scapegoat for those who may not win.

“We pray that the Lord strengthens them, gives them wisdom, and guides the chairperson, deputies, staff, returning officers, presiding officers, and all those involved in this challenging task. I believe the EC will rise to the occasion. Ghana is in a enviable position regarding election conduct, and I trust that Madam Chair and her team will excel.”

Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia and former President John Dramani Mahama, the two leading contenders in this year’s presidential election, submitted their nominations for the race, marking a significant step in their campaigns.

Meanwhile, the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, will submit the forms on behalf of John Mahama.

The NDC described this step as a crucial moment in their campaign for change on December 7. “The submission of the forms represents a pivotal step in our campaign to reset Ghana’s economy and build the Ghana we want together,” they stated.
