Some Chiefs in Kpando have voiced their confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia‘s leadership as he campaigns for the presidency.

The Vice President and New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer began his tour of the Volta Region on Sunday with a visit to the Kpando Constituency, where he engaged with local chiefs, religious leaders, and residents.

Togbe Dagadu IX, the Paramount Chief of Kpando, welcomed Dr. Bawumia and expressed the community’s belief in his leadership. He praised the NPP government for delivering key development projects in Kpando and across the country.

“On behalf of the Chiefs and people of Kpando, I express our gratitude to this NPP government for various development projects,” said Togbe Dagadu IX. “Notable among them is the Free SHS policy, but I will focus on what we have seen locally. We now have a new municipal assembly complex, an audit service building, and a business advisory centre, among others. We are also seeing bungalows being built for assembly staff and judges.”

The Paramount Chief also highlighted the arrival of road development equipment in the district, expressing optimism about upcoming improvements to Kpando’s roads. “Very soon, we will see some relief as far as our town roads are concerned,” he said.

Looking ahead, Togbe Dagadu IX called for continued development under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership, should he become President. He specifically requested support for completing the rehabilitation of the Kpando Health Centre and key local roads, as well as upgrading the Kpando Technical Institute and Bishop Herman Senior High School. He also proposed the creation of an inland port to boost the community’s tourism potential.

“We, the Chiefs and people of Kpando, have high hopes in your leadership,” said Togbe Dagadu IX, adding that the community looks forward to further development under Dr. Bawumia’s presidency “should Ghanaians and the Almighty God deliver the steering wheel of Ghana into your hands.”

Dr. Bawumia was presented with a traditional smock as a symbol of the community’s support, and Togbe Dagadu IX assured him of their readiness to work together in the future.

The Vice President thanked the Chiefs and people of Kpando for their warm reception and pledged to address their requests if elected. He also took the opportunity to outline some of the policies he intends to implement, including further infrastructure development, investments in agriculture, and digital training for the youth.

In his remarks, Togbe Gabusu XI, another paramount chief, noted the enthusiastic reception Dr. Bawumia received, despite the heavy rain. “Your presence in Kpando has painted the town blue, white, and red,” he said, referring to the NPP’s colours. Togbe Gabusu XI expressed confidence in Dr. Bawumia’s leadership and reaffirmed the community’s support for his presidential bid.

“We are ready to work with you anytime, any day,” Togbe Gabusu XI said.
