The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has received official complaint from the Electoral Commission (EC) to probe forgery allegations against the five disqualified presidential aspirants for the December 7, 2020 elections.
According to the EC, those whose case border on fake voters register and signatories on the nomination forms have been referred to the CID for further actions.
The five are Kofi Koranteng and Marrice Kofi Gane, both independent candidates, Akwasi Addae Odike of United Progress Party (UFP), Kwesi Busumbru of the People’s Action Party ( PAP) and Nana Agyenim Boateng of United Front Party ( UFP).
The Director-General of CID, COP Isaac Ken Yeboah confirmed a receipt of a letter from the EC, but did not give further details.
Out of the 17 presidential aspirants who presented their nomination forms to the Electoral Commission, five have been disqualified from contesting this year’s presidential election on grounds of presenting unqualified registered voters.
