The Electoral Commission (EC) says the process of collating election results at all the constituency and regional collation centres is currently ongoing in the presence of Political Party Agents.
The Commission says, its staff and field officials are working round the clock to ensure that collated results are accurate and are a true reflection of the will of the people of Ghana.
The EC said this in a statement released today (December 8, 2020).
“This time round, the Commission, at its National Collation Centre in Accra is only receiving collated Presidential election results from 16 regions as opposed to results from 275 constituencies as has been the case in the past” the Statement further said.
The Statement therefore urged the public and stakeholders to remain calm and patient as it will release all the certified results as soon as they are received.
According to the Statement, the Commission “remains the sole and legally mandated body to declare Presidential elections results in Ghana”.
The Statement further urges candidates, their supporters, media and the general public to desist from declaring Presidential elections results as “this is a contravention to the law and a threat to the peace and stability of the nation.
