Confirmed MCE Ansu Kumi promises to ensure Bono remains peaceful

The Sunyani Municipality for years has been one of the most peaceful regional capitals, with murder and other violent crimes being rare.

But sadly, the narrative is changing with increasing incidents of snatching of bags and mobile phones, among other criminal activities.

According to the newly confirmed Municipal Chief Executive for Sunyani, Ansu Kumi, correcting this situation would be one of his priorities. He promised to restore peace to residents of Sunyani and its environs.

Mr. Ansu Kumi spoke with GBC News after his confirmation as the MCE for the Sunyani Municipality.

Austin Agyenim Boateng reports that the confirmation vote was presided over by the Bono Regional Minister Justina Owusu-Banahene.

Also Present was the Member of Parliament for Sunyani East, Akwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh, with EC officials conducting the vote.

Mr. Ansu Kumi, a tutor and the constituency Secretary for the New Patriotic Party in the Sunyani East, polled 40 yes votes representing 89% from the 47 Assembly Members.

In a speech after his endorsement, the MCE for the Sunyani Municipality, Mr. Kumi said, security and employment would be his priorities.

Meanwhile, in the Berekum East Municipality, nominee Kofi Agyei was endorsed with a100 % yes votes. So far 9 MCEs and DCEs have been endorsed in the Bono region.

All these areas, reporters were prevented from entering the voting halls to witness the confirmation process with the exception of Dormaa East.
