The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Asiedu Nketiah, widely known as General Mosquito, says politicians, have the right and responsibility as Ghanaians to support initiatives that will promote and benefit Ghana.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah was responding to a question posed by GBC’s Thelma Tackie in an interview during his visit to support Chef Failatu Razak as she continues her attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon in Tamale.
“Well, I am yet to comprehend the definition of politics and politics being called Asiedu Nketiah. Anyone can engage in any activity, but individuals like us, the moment we participate in something, we are no longer regarded as Ghanaians but labeled as politicians. I don’t understand, and I firmly believe that we, too, have the right as Ghanaians and the responsibility as citizens of this country to support any endeavor that contributes to the country’s well-being, regardless of our political affiliations,” he stated.
Today, January 9, 2024, marks the 9th day since Failatu Abdul Razak commenced the Cook-A-Thon at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale, aiming to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon set by Ugandan chef Dorcus Mirembe.
Mr Asiedu Nketiah further emphasized that Failatu’s involvement could enhance the usage of the Tamale Airport for the economy, given its international status.
He stated, “This project is a way of making Tamale Airport International, and this concerns everybody. It’s not just about Failatu as an individual; the impact will be felt across Ghana.”
While addressing the audience, he acknowledged Failatu reaching 200 hours of cooking and celebrated her remarkable initiative.
He expressed gratitude to the event organizers and the media houses that have amplified and given support to the Cook-A-Thon.
“I’m excited that my visit coincides with her 200 hours achievement. To be honest with you, I didn’t know she could go this far, but seeing her in good spirit and with our encouragement, I believe she will go as far as she can,” concluded Asiedu Nketiah.
