Cuba’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, led a high-level delegation to Ghana’s Parliament. The visit was designed to explore new avenues for strengthening parliamentary cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries. This initiative reflects a broader effort by both nations to deepen their historical friendship and expand collaboration in various sectors.
During the visit, the Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Rt Hon Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, warmly welcomed the Cuban delegation. He praised Cuba’s remarkable achievements in global healthcare, highlighting its commitment to providing quality medical services worldwide. The Speaker also commended Cuba’s values of simplicity, humility, and maintenance culture, expressing his support for enhancing solidarity between Ghana and Cuba. He emphasized the importance of continued dialogue with the Cuban Ambassador to Ghana to further strengthen these ties.
The visit underscored the long-standing relationship between Cuba and Ghana, which dates back to Ghana’s independence. The two nations have a rich history of cooperation, particularly in healthcare and education. Cuban medical personnel have been instrumental in providing critical services in Ghana, contributing significantly to the country’s healthcare sector.
