The Director of Communications of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former Member of Parliament (MP) for Adentan, Yaw Buaben Asamoa has denied claims that the delay in releasing the list of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) is to avoid the disbursement of the District Assembly Common Fund (DACF) for 2021.

He said such claims should be ignored as they are mere speculations.

His denial comes on the back of assertions by the President of the Chamber of Local Government (ChaLoG), Dr. Richard Fiadomor, that government planned to avoid payment of the Common Fund, hence the delay in announcing the List of the MMDCEs.

Dr. Fiadomor told Accra based private station, that the delay is deliberate, as government does not want to pay the District Assembly Common Fund for 2021.

However, Mr. Buaben Asamoah denied the assertion, insisting the comment by the ChaLoG President, was a personal opinion and not a fact.

He maintained the delay has nothing to do with the Common Fund.

Meanwhile, President Akufo-Addo has finalised the list of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to be nominated to serve in his final term.

This was disclosed by the Director of Communications at the Jubilee, Eugene Arhin.
