The Appointments Committee of Parliament has resumed its vetting process for deputy ministers designated for various government sectors following the chaotic session on January 30, 2025.
The committee is set to screen four nominees on Monday, February 24, as part of its mandate to assess the suitability of the president’s appointees.
The nominees appearing before the committee include:
• Lydia Lamisi Akanvariba (MP) – Minister of State, Public Sector Reforms
• Thomas Nyarko Ampem (MP) – Deputy Minister, Ministry of Finance
• Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi (MP) – Deputy Minister, Ministry of the Interior
• Sampson Ahi (MP) – Deputy Minister, Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness, and Industry

In response to the disturbances that marred the previous sitting, Parliament has instituted strict measures to maintain order.
Media access to the committee room has been significantly restricted, with only a limited number of accredited journalists and production teams from selected media houses permitted to cover the proceedings.
Media outlets wishing to broadcast the vetting process live have been directed to source their feed from the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC) production output.
Furthermore, only ten seats have been reserved for guests who wish to support a nominee during the vetting process. Security has also been heightened within the parliamentary premises to prevent any recurrence of the past disruptions.
Officials have urged all attendees to comply with the new directives to ensure a smooth and orderly vetting process.
