Dormaahene chastises BOG for plans to invest $250M in new edifice

Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr. Agyeman Badu, has condemned Management of the Bank of Ghana (BOG), for planning to invest $250 million in the construction of a new Headquarters in Accra.

He described the timing of the project as inappropriate, as Ghana grapples with economic issues.

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Agyeman Badu, who is also the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, said President Akufo Addo should, as a matter of priority, intervene and ensure investment in more beneficial projects like creating jobs for the youth.

Mr. Badu was speaking at the 2023 First General Meeting of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs in Sunyani.

The Dormaahene Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr. Agyeman Badu joined the national debate on what many Ghanaians have described as a wasteful use of 250 million dollars by the Bank of Ghana to construct a new headquarters in Accra. Addressing the 2023 First General Meeting of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs in Sunyani, Dr Agyeman Badu expressed his disappointment over the development and said the 250 million dollars should be used to support the teeming unemployed youth.

Dormaahene said plans to construct a new headquarters are misplaced, given the current economic situation in Ghana.

Osagyefo Oseadeyo Dr. Agyeman Badu, who is also the President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs, appealed to President Akufo Addo to intervene and stop the Central Bank from using 250 million dollars to construct a new Headquarters.

The first general meeting of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs is held in the first quarter of 2023.

It is a review of the activities of the past year and an opportunity to plan for the year ahead.
