The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced a rerun of the Council of State elections in the North East and Ashanti Regions on Monday, February 17, 2025.
According to the EC, the election in the North East Region will be held again because two candidates tied with six votes each.
Meanwhile, the Ashanti Region’s rerun was caused by chaos during the counting of ballots, which left the process incomplete.
In a statement on Wednesday, February 12, the EC confirmed that it has informed the Ghana Police Service and the National Election Security Taskforce to improve security at the election venues.
This is to ensure a smooth process without disruptions.
