The Electoral Commission (EC) has extended its intended timeline for declaring the 2020 Presidential election results.

The decision according to the EC, is to ensure that the collation of results at the Constituency and Regional Collation Centres across Ghana is accurate.

In a statement, the EC said the new timeline will be communicated to the general public shortly.

The EC reiterated its commitment to transparency, integrity and fairness which are the yardstick by which it conducted the 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary Elections.

“As such, to ensure that the declared Presidential results are 100% accurate and reflective of the will of the people, the Commission entreats the Public and all Stakeholders to exercise patience as the collation process continues in the presence of Political Party agents and election observers” the Statement further stated.

The Statement thanked all registered voters who turned up to vote on December 7, 2020 and reminded the public that the EC “remains the sole and legally mandated body to declare Presidential elections results in Ghana”.
