The Electoral Commission (EC) has announced plans to publish polling station results on its website for the first time during the 2024 elections as part of efforts to enhance transparency, according to the Deputy Chairperson of the EC Dr. Bossman Asare.

“We will ensure that the polling station results are available on our website well in advance, even before anyone considers legal action. This will allow the public and stakeholders to verify what occurred at the polling stations. This is a decision the commission has deliberated on, and we are committed to implementing it,” Dr. Bossman Asare stated.

Speaking during a discussion on Joy News on Sunday, September 15, 2024, Dr. Bossman Asare made this comment after the African Union High Representative for Silencing the Guns, Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, urged the EC to rebuild trust among stakeholders ahead of the upcoming elections. Dr. Chambas emphasized that making the results accessible online would greatly boost the credibility and transparency of the electoral process.

Dr. Asare further explained that the results would only be uploaded after all polling station data had been collected. “Since this is our first time doing this, we will wait until all the results are in before proceeding,” he added.
