Some Political Parties have expressed disappointment over the GH¢100,000 filing fees pegged for Presidential Candidates as announced by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Speaking on news and current affairs programme ‘Behind the News’ on Uniiq FM, they were of the view that the amount is too high especially looking at the impact of COVID-19.
Peter Boamah Otokunor is the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC). He expressed shock about the exorbitant charge as it is a hundred percent increase from the previous one.
General Secretary of the Convention People’s Party (CPP) Nana Yaa Jantuah said the CPP was not consulted on the fee adding that there should have been consensus before arriving at it.
The Director of Elections of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Evans Nimako on the other hand said the Party is putting its house in order to pay the amount.
Flag Bearer of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo also expressed disappointment about the filing fee saying it is expensive but added that his party will put resources together to pay.
The Flag Bearer of ACP Hassan Ayariga also expressed disappointment about the filing fee.
