Head of Local Government Services, Dr. Nana Ato Arthur says he supports the call for Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to be elected but believes it must be on partisan basis.
Dr. Nana Ato Arthur explained that currently, the process of confirming Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executive nominees and Presiding Members are most of the time done on partisan basis. Based on this, the election of MMDCEs should be partisan.
Speaking on the Breakfast Show on GTV, he noted that when MMDCEs are elected, they will become accountable to the people thus making them effective.
