Counsel for President Akufo-Addo, Akoto Ampaw has raised objections to some paragraphs in the witness statement of the General Secretary of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia. Mr Asiedu Nketia is one of the witnesses for the Petitioner in the election petition, John Mahama.

Mr Akoto Ampaw submitted that those paragraphs are not based on the petitioner’s pleadings, adding that they are scandalous, prejudicial and should be struck out by the Court. Counsel for the Electoral Commission, Justin Amenuvor associated himself with the submission by Mr Ampaw.

Lawyer for the Petitioner, Tsatsu Tsikata however argued that those paragraphs under contention are based on the petitioner’s pleadings of lack of transparency in the collation of figures.

He said the Petitioner pleaded opacity in the collation of figures and the witness statement seeks to demonstrate that and is a relevant piece of evidence. The Court is currently on recess to consider the objection raised by Mr Ampaw.
