The Electoral Commission of Ghana has emphasised the importance of media collaboration for the upcoming 2024 parliamentary and presidential elections.

In an interview with Kafui Dey on GTV’s breakfast show on Thursday, November 28, 2024, Dr. Bossman Asare emphasised the vital role the media plays in promoting transparency and fairness in the electoral process.

“We need the media to report, to let us know of the development in all the coalitions,” he stated.

He added that the Commission has been engaging with media stakeholders to ensure a smooth and transparent electoral process.

In preparation for the elections, the Electoral Commission has established a structure to ensure the efficient management of the electoral process. This includes the Head Office, Regional Offices, and District Offices, each with its own functional departments.

The Commission has also emphasised the importance of coalition centres, where votes from various polling stations are collated and announced, adding that the media will play a crucial role in reporting from these centres.

“With the elections just around the corner, the Electoral Commission is committed to ensuring a free, fair, and transparent process. The collaboration with the media is a key aspect of this effort.”
