Mr. Emmanuel Bedzrah, Chairman of the seven-member committee probing the disruptions during the ministerial vetting process, reassured the public that the inquiry is not designed to unfairly target any Member of Parliament.
Speaking at a press conference alongside fellow committee members, the Ho West MP stressed the investigation’s commitment to transparency and impartiality.
“The committee would like to place on record that it is not part of its job to target or witch-hunt anyone. We’re not here to witch-hunt any of our colleagues or Members of Parliament. This work is to look for evidence of any Member of Parliament who may have flouted the rules of engagement in this house,” Bedzrah declared.
The committee was formed by Speaker Alban Bagbin on January 31, 2025, following violent confrontations during the vetting session on January 30 that saw clashes between MPs and the destruction of equipment. Its mandate is to identify those responsible for the chaos and recommend appropriate sanctions.
In a bid to enhance public engagement, the committee has established a WhatsApp platform to receive information and testimonies related to the disruptions. Public hearings will also be conducted, providing a forum for individuals to share their accounts of the events.
The panel includes members Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, Gizella Akushika Tetteh-Agbotui, Abena Osei Asare, Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Vincent Oppong Asamoah, and Bede Anwataazuma Ziedeng.
