The Presidential Advisor on Health and Member of the NPP 2024 health manifesto, Dr. Anthony Nsiah Asare has projected that the country needs enough tax funds to expedite the payment of students allowances.

Speaking on GTV’s Breakfast Show on Thursday, September 5, 2024, Dr. Nsiah Asare revealed that, the inability to pay students allowance or the backlogs of unpaid students allowances is due to inadequate tax funds available to the government.

Touching on the section of the NPP’s 2024 manifesto which seeks to offer incentives tocc Health workers, Dr. Nsiah Asare explained that, the Bawumia -led government will support health workers and teachers to be able to acquire vehicles whose engine capacities are up to 18000cc. According to him all these can be achieved in addition to paying students allowance through a robust economic restructuring that can rake in enough funds to support this course.

He also stressed that the next NPP government will work with private sectors to make sure the ‘medical village’ initiative intended to take care of the accommodation of health workers are taken care of before posting workers from their comfort zone to rural areas.

Dr.Nsiah further explained how vulnerable citizens above 60 years and children below 18 years have access to free dialysis under the National Health Insurance Scheme(NHIS) policy, how renewal of NHIS card has been digitalized to relieve the burden of going to the hospitals to join long queues before renewals can be done and how active members on NHIS have jumped from 10.6 million to 17.6 million due to its advantageous benefits like childhood cancer and sickle cell patients being provided with drugs.
