The Chief Observer of the European Union (EU) Election Observation Mission in Ghana, Javier Nart has commended Ghanaians for upholding the tenets of democracy.
He said this enviable feat ought to be further boosted by a peaceful polls.
Mr. Nart who was addressing the media in Kumasi said its mandate is to conduct an independent and comprehensive analysis of the election in the country.
The European Union Election Observation Mission to Ghana’s general election has ended its pre-election tour of the Western and Central regions in Kumasi.
It is the European Union’s third Elections Observation Mission to Ghana after 2008 and 2016, as well as an Election Follow-up Mission in 2019.
The delegation will remain in the country well beyond election day to observe the post-electoral environment.
The Chief Observer, of the Mission Javier Nart commended Ghanaians for upholding the tenets of democracy.
He said recommendations for future electoral processes, will be presented and shared with stakeholders.
Mr. Nart said they will also assess the extent to which the process complies with Ghana’s domestic laws and international and regional standards for democratic elections.
He said the EU observers will focus on the legal framework, electoral administration, the conduct of traditional and social media, vote counting and the collation of results.
