President of Togo, Faure Gnassingbé, last night made a stopover in Ghana for talks with President Akufo-Addo. The talks centered on developments in Togo since the last peace mediation meeting of the ECOWAS team, the Government and Opposition parties in Togo.
President Akufo-Addo last night received the Togolese leader at the Jubilee Lounge of the Kotoka International Airport. The two leaders subsequently moved to the ‘Australia House’ where they addressed the media briefly and moved into a closed door meeting.
President Akufo-Addo and his Guinean counterpart, Alpha Conde, are leading the ECOWAS mediation team to facilitate peace talks in Togo. The two leaders have already met with the feuding factions.
Last night’s meeting with President Akufo-Addo was to update him on recent developments and the state of the peace process in Togo. President Akufo-Addo set the ball rolling for the meeting between the two.
