Five more persons have been arrested in connection with the recent clash between New Patriotic Party (NPP) and National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Yagaba-Kubori Constituency of the North East Region.
This brings to fourteen (14), the number of persons arrested so far.
Some NPP supporters allegedly shot into the vehicle of the incumbent Member of Parliament, Rauf Tanko during his campaign in one of the communities.
In a reprisal attack, some NDC supporters stormed the residence of the NPP Parliamentary Candidate, Mustapha Usif, to vandalize his property.
Calm has since been restored to the constituency following the arrests.
North East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Kwadwo Antwi, says security presence in the community has been intensified.
“Calm has been restored to the place. We arrested five more people, bringing the total number of persons arrested to fourteen. We need to take their statements.”
The clash resulted in the destruction of properties and left some injured.
The NPP’s parliamentary candidate had earlier accused the incumbent MP of instigating the attacks on his property.
