The Pressure Group, ‘Fixing the Country Movement,’ says last week’s lecture on the economy by Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, is one of optimism, joy, and reflection. The group said the lecture displayed a lot of clear policy ideas on how to deal with the COVID-19 challenges to build a robust economy. A Political Strategist, and Convener of ‘Fixing the Country Movement’, Ernest Kofi Owusu Bempah, stated this at a news conference in Accra.
Mr. Bempah said President Akufo-Addo’s government is not relenting in efforts at building a robust economy after the COVID 19 pandemic. He wondered why some opposition elements do not see anything positive from the government, particularly the economic recovery after the pandemic.
Mr. Owusu Bempah said with the effect of the COVID pandemic on the global economy, ”governments have no option but to develop homegrown policies, especially, taxation to avert any economic disaster”.
