The #Fix the Country Movement has called for the review of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution to promote growth of the country’s democracy.
Speaking to Journalists in Accra, Commander-In-Chief of the Movement, Ernesto Yeboah said the future of every democratic dispensation is to ensure that equity prevails in the country or territory thus the current Constitution cannot be described as equitable, because it does not fully represent the aspirations of the people widely.
The group is therefore calling on 1 million citizens to sign onto their social media platforms, to enable it to pass a vote of no confidence in the 1992 Constitution through this they can invoke the Constituent’ Assembly Right which is a body or Assembly of popularly elected Representatives for the purpose of drafting or adopting a constitution.
The group also called for an investigation into the death of a Political Activist and sympathizer of #Fix the Country Movement, Mohammed Kaaka.
They announced that on the 21st of September, 2021 a demonstration will be held in Takoradi, the Western Regional Capital to press home demands for better democratic governance.
