Businessman Gabriel Atokple Kwamigah Tanko has been elected as the Volta Region’s representative on the Council of State after securing 24 out of 36 votes in an election held on February 11, 2025, at the OLA Senior High School Assembly Hall.
The contest featured 13 candidates, but Mr. Tanko won by a significant margin.
Voting commenced at 9:50 a.m. following some initial agitations, and by the end of the process, he secured his position as the region’s representative.
After his victory, Mr. Tanko vowed to harness the Volta Region’s economic potential to drive development.
Meanwhile, some candidates have accused the National Democratic Congress (NDC) of swaying delegates’ votes.
