President John Dramani Mahama has named Sammy Gyamfi, the National Communications Officer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), as the Acting Managing Director of the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC).
The appointment, which took effect from January 16, 2025, aligns with the administration’s goal of driving economic transformation. One of Mr. Gyamfi’s top priorities will be to spearhead the creation of the Ghana Gold Board , a key policy initiative outlined in the NDC’s 2024 manifesto.
Announcing the decision, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Acting Spokesperson for the President, emphasized that the move underscores the government’s commitment to fostering sustainable development and revitalizing Ghana’s economy through strategic initiatives like the GoldBod project.
This appointment places Sammy Gyamfi at the forefront of efforts to restructure the country’s gold sector, a step expected to enhance value addition, improve regulatory frameworks, and create opportunities within the mining industry.
