Ghana receives Kofi Annan's body

The plane carrying the remains of former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan has arrived at the Kotoka International Airport.

A United Nations (UN) plane carrying remains of Kofi Annan set off from Geneva, Switzerland to Accra Monday.

The casket, draped in a UN flag, was accompanied by his wife, children and some UN officials.

President Akufo-Addo received the body of the global icon at a brief ceremony in Accra.

Kofi Annan died at age 80 in Bern, Switzerland, on Saturday, August 18, surrounded by his wife, Nane Maria, and their children Ama, Kojo and Nina.
