Ghana Union Movement (GUM) spokesperson, Christiana Quayson, has announced plans to abolish the double-track system in senior high school (SHS) education.
In an interview on GTV’s breakfast show today, Quayson stressed that Ghana Union Movement will allocate companies to schools, providing students with practical experience. “The selection is based on individual skills in education, so let’s say if a school is allocated, companies will be allocated as well,” she stated.
Quayson emphasized that GUM’s educational system prioritizes practical knowledge and skills building. “So with the practical knowledge and skills-building form of education, we are going to put students in their various chosen skills, technical skills, to know the technical know-how in various factories,” she added.
To support this initiative, Quayson added that GUM will provide sufficient infrastructure to eliminate the double-track system. This move aims to provide students with industry-relevant skills and experience.
