Ghanaians pay last respect to 'Busumuru' Kofi Annan

Body of the former UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan, is lying in state at the foyer of the Accra International Conference Centre.
A number of Ghanaians have taken turns to pay their last respects to the Nobel Peace Laureate.

The body was flown in from Switzerland Monday amidst military honours at the Jubilee Lounge of   Kotoka International Airport.

The climax of the funeral of the funeral rites for the late Diplomat Kofi Annan, will be held Wednesday September 11.
A delegation from the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu, will perform the appropriate rites befitting Mr Annan’s status as Busumuru.
Akwamufie, from where Mr Annan hails, will also be given the opportunity to pay respects.
There will be a Funeral Service at the Auditorium of the Accra International Conference Center on Thursday September 13 at 9am.

This will be preceded by filing past and paying of last respects by VVIPs only.
Heads of State, High ranking UN Officials including the UN Secretary General, António Guterres and many international personalities are expected in Accra for the funeral.
The late Kofi Annan, will be buried at the new Military Cemetery at Burma camp with full Military honours.
