With few days to the December 7 polls, financial impediments have been identified as one of the factors that may hinder a successful implementation of the political parties’ manifestos, especially promises that have youth in focus.

According to Youth Sensitivity Analysis on 2024 parties manifestos and youth aspirations report, the political parties manifestos do not only lack financial allocation but also an implementation framework which makes it more difficult for assessment.

The Youth Sensitivity Analysis Report focused on evaluating how political party manifestos will address youth aspirations, and equip young voters with the knowledge to engage meaningfully with stakeholders.

It is also to ensure that the youth are well-positioned to hold elected leaders accountable.

The report analyzed the manifestos of the ruling New Patriotic Party, NPP, the National Democratic Congress, NDC, and the Movement for Change.

Speaking at the launch of the report in Accra, the Dean of the Graduate Business School of the University of Ghana, Professor Justice Nyigmah Bawole said: “Even though the political parties’ manifesto aligns with the vision of both African and Ghanaian youth, promises and initiatives proposed by the politicians do not target the entire youth section of the country but a few party faithful”.

He said all three political parties’ manifestos were not Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic, and Time dimensions for measuring them.

The report also recommended that Civil Society Groups must intensify advocacy, especially in the areas of transparency and accountability.

The initiative was implemented by the Youth Bridge Foundation sponsored by the STAR GHANA Foundation and funded by the foreign Commonwealth and Development office.
