Godfred Yeboah Dame, the Attorney General and Minister of Justice has spoken out a few days after the opposition National Democratic Congress made public an allegedly damaging audio recording of him speaking with Richard Jakpa, the third defendant in the contentious ambulance case.
Following his initial Court appearance since the release of the audio, Mr. Dame declared that the Lord will support him during his trials.
Godfred Yeboah Dame told the reporters that he is confident he will prevail.
“All I can say is that the joy of the wicked is not what the Lord takes pleasure in. They may have set traps for me, but I will not stay with them. Furthermore, good will always triumph over evil”, he noted.
Background
After it was revealed that the Attorney General had spoken with Mr. Jakpa, accusations of impropriety were made against him.
In an audio recording made public by the NDC, it is purported that Godfred Dame is heard giving third accused Richard Jakpa advice on how to testify in court, with the intention of undermining Dr. Ato Forson, the minority leader.
The NDC is now questioning Mr. Dame’s eligibility for his positions as Attorney General and Minister of Justice, as well as his leadership of the Ghana Bar.
Following that, the opposition NDC demanded that Mr. Dame be fired by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in the event that he did not step down from his role.
