Residents of the Ho Municipality can now access water again after Ghana Water Ltd (GWL) successfully restored supply following a major breakdown at the Kpeve Water Abstraction Plant.
The disruption, caused by the failure of all three pumps at the plant, led to a temporary halt in water distribution.
According to a statement from GWL, technical teams worked tirelessly around the clock to restore operations within 48 hours, implementing a short-term solution to resume water supply.
Additionally, tanker services were deployed to provide essential institutions with water during the crisis.
Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, Managing Director of GWL, emphasized the company’s commitment to uninterrupted water supply. As part of medium-term measures, two new pumps have been procured and are expected to arrive in Ghana by the end of March to strengthen the system.
Long-term solutions are also underway, focusing on expanding the Kpeve Water Treatment Plant to meet increasing water demands. This aligns with the government’s “Water for All” vision, ensuring sustainable access to clean water for the Ho Municipality and surrounding communities.
GWL expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for his dedication to improving water infrastructure and ensuring equitable access for all residents. The company reassured the public of its continuous efforts to enhance water service delivery and thanked stakeholders for their patience and cooperation.
