The Minister-designate for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured all teachers that their condition will be improved under the administration of President John Mahama.
However, he said, this will be dependent on how much the economy would allow them to do.
Speaking during his vetting in Parliament on Monday, January 20, Hon. Haruna said “We will improve the conditions of teachers to the extent that the economy can do.”
Haruna Iddrisu emphasized that the government will prioritize access, quality, and relevance in tertiary education.
To achieve this, the government plans to focus on expanding infrastructure to improve access to education.
With regards to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, Hon. Haruna stated that they intend to build a mode STEM schools in every region.
He also assured that President John Mahama would not cancel the Free Senior High School programme but rather expand it and subject the Free SHS to a review.
He further stated that they will give true meaning to free, compulsory and universal education.
