Hassan Ayariga, the presidential candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), has unveiled his plans to introduce price control measures to reshape Ghana’s consumption patterns if elected president on December 7, 2024.

In an exclusive interview on GTV’s Breakfast Show today, September 24, 2024, Ayariga emphasized the need to grow and consume domestic products.

“We have the best food in this country,” he noted. “Our purple rice is renowned globally, yet we import basmati and other types of rice. Similarly, our palm oil is exceptional, and coconut oil can be produced locally, eliminating the need for imports”.

“These ingredients are highly valued worldwide, but we’re not marketing them effectively”.

Ayariga also expressed concerns about environmental pollution and the impact of imported artificial food products. Citing his experience in China, where he witnessed the production of artificial eggs, he vowed to restrict foreign land ownership and reform passports if elected.

As president, Ayariga aims to prioritize policy-making over promises. “When these policies are implemented over the next two to three years, Ghana will become a strong institution, rendering the presidency largely ceremonial,” he stated.

Ayariga, founder of the APC, previously contested the 2012 presidential election as the candidate for the People’s National Convention.
