Finance Minster Designate, Hon. Cassiel Ato Forson has stated that he has been a strong advocate for cocoa farmers in the last eight years by fighting for them always.
He mentioned this during the vetting of Ministerial Nominees when he was asked what reasonable and fair producer price must cocoa farmers expect from him and the new administration.
His response was ‘’I will work to improve the cocoa sector recognizing their contribution to the economy’’.
The Finance Minister designate however, raised a concern that the cocoa sector was collapsing at a fast rate and something needed to be done by revamping the sector.
‘’The Ghana Cocoa Board is currently under the Ministry of Agriculture, it is not under the Ministry of Finance so I do not have the sole power prerogative to announce Cocoa price today’’, he said.
