Presidential Advisor and Special Aide to President Mahama, Joyce Bawah Mogtari has warned against publication of false reports about her.

In an Instagram post on February 24, 2025, Joyce Bawah stated that henceforth, she would no longer tolerate “false and malicious publications” about her and vowed to take legal action against those spreading misinformation.

Her statement comes after some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) accused her of illegally acquiring a vehicle for personal use.

Responding to the allegations, Mogtari dismissed the allegations as “baseless, needless, and unjustified tactics”, arguing that her vehicle purchase was in full compliance with her Conditions of Service and all relevant laws.

She said the allegations against her are untrue as she lawfully acquired the said vehicle for personal use.

“Their attacks would have been justified if in their haste to attack me, they were able to show that the acquisition was not in full compliance with my Conditions of Service or any law,” she wrote.

She accused the NPP of using “unjustified tactics” to undermine her, particularly following the party’s defeat in the last election.

“Since their crushing defeat in the last election, the NPP’s strategy appears to be nothing more than ‘tickle yourself and laugh,'” she said.

Joyce Bawah affirmed that her compliance and adherence to the country’s existing laws is evident from the fact that she has never been a subject in any scandal or investigation regarding the acquisition of the vehicle which is claimed to have been illegally acquired.

She further defended the valuation process, explaining that vehicle appraisals are conducted by the State Transport Corporation (STC) based on established criteria.

“Valuation of vehicles are done by STC and as the experts, they have their established criteria for conducting valuations on vehicles so it is completely out of place for anyone to attack me for the price of the vehicle when the real questions should be directed at STC to lay bare the parameters for conducting valuations to determine prices of vehicles.”
