The IGP, James Oppong -Boanuh has interacted with representatives of Political parties and members of the Police Management Board on this year’s general election. The meeting sought to discuss measures to improve security in ensuring a successful election in December.

Mr Oppong – Boanuh assured Ghanaians that the Police Service will ensure that lives and property are protected before, during and after the polls. He said the success of the election is a collective responsibility of the Police, EC, Political parties, Civil Society Organisations and the media.

The IGP therefore urged relevant stakeholders to contribute to helping to educate the public to advocate for peace to promote transparency and accountability because the global lenses will be on Ghana to evaluate the potency of its democratic gains.

He urged security Officers to be impartial in the performance of their duties, saying personnel who go contrary to that will be sanctioned.

The IGP gave assurance that the National Election Security Task Force will ensure a peaceful atmosphere during the polls.

Political parties who were at the meeting included the NPP, NDC, CPP, PNP and All People’s Party.
