Interior Minister Pays Working Visit To Ghana Prisons Service

The Minister for the Interior Alhaji Muntaka Muhammed-Mubarak has visited the         Ghana Prisons Service as part of his familiarization tour of agencies under the ministry upon assumption of office.

At a durbar with officers at the Headquarters in Accra, the minister sought to find out challenges affecting the service and the way forward. 

After inspection of the Prisons guard of honour, the Minister for the Interior, Alhaji Muntaka Muhammed-Mubarak, and his team, held a closed-door meeting with the Prison Directorate and Officers.

Discussions focused on key issues and challenges facing the service.

The engagement also touched on deepening the working relationship between the Ministry and officers, emphasizing collaboration for public safety and security.

The Director General of Prisons, Mr. Isaac Egyir, was hopeful that the interaction will yield positive results.

The Minister Alhaji Muntaka Muhammed-Mubarak, pledged to ensure that the Service is well-resourced and supported.

Emphasizing the role of the Ghana Prisons Service in national development, the minister said the meeting marks the beginning of deeper  collaboration to enhance public safety and security in the country.
