The Flagbearer of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), Kofi Akpaloo, has defended the National Cathedral project, describing it as a good investment that will generate revenue for Ghana.

Speaking at the Presidential Encounter at GBC on November 21, 2024, Kofi Akpaloo asserted that the project’s critics do not understand its purpose and the benefits it will bring.

“The $58 million whole is for a car park,” Akpaloo stated, explaining that the hole being dug is intended for a multi-storey car park. Anybody who says that perhaps doesn’t know what is going on there,” he added.

Akpalo argued that the project will create jobs, stimulate economic activity, and generate revenue through venue rentals for events such as weddings. “If you are doing your wedding, and you get a place like that place to go and do your wedding, and you are paying 50,000 for the venue, how about that?”

The LPG flagbearer expressed his commitment to completing the project if elected President despite criticism from some Ghanaians.

“Should we leave it wasted or we should continue and get it done so that we can get money from it?” Akpaloo asked, emphasising the need to complete the project to reap its benefits.
