Kofi Koranteng is a Ghanaian activist and politician who used to be the Chief Executive Officer of the Progressive Alliance Movement.

He has been a key advocate for the rights of Ghanaians living abroad to be given the chance to vote and be represented in that manner through campaigning for the Representation of the Peoples’ Amendment Act (ROPAA) to be passed. An Engineer by profession, he has been vocal about the inefficiencies he perceives in the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation (GBC).

Kofi Koranteng is currently the flagbearer for the New Vision Movement.

Taking his turn on GBC’s Presidential Encounter on GBC News on November 18th, 2024 Mr. Koranteng shared his ideas on transforming Ghana. He emphasized that the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation’s (GBC) inefficiencies mirror the larger issues plaguing the government, citing significant resource waste and ineffective management.

He believes that the current operations at GBC are a microcosm of the larger issues plaguing the Ghanaian government.

According to Mr. Koranteng, there’s a significant waste of resources and a lack of streamlined processes that hinder the effectiveness of public services.

Koranteng’s engineering background informs his approach to problem-solving, emphasising the need for optimisation and efficiency. He proposes a radical overhaul of GBC’s operations, aiming to cut down on unnecessary expenditures and improve service delivery. This, he argues, could serve as a model for other government institutions.

Moreover, Koranteng advocates for a substantial reduction in the size of the government, suggesting a 73% cut. He believes that a leaner government would be more agile and responsive to the needs of the citizens, reducing bureaucracy and corruption. This proposal is part of his broader vision to create a more efficient, transparent, and accountable government that better serves the people of Ghana.

His ideas reflect a desire to move away from the status quo and implement significant reforms that could potentially transform the public sector. By focusing on efficiency and resource optimisation, Koranteng aims to ensure that public funds are used effectively to improve the quality of life for all Ghanaians.
