Election 2024: Respect outcomes of polls to preserve Ghana’s democracy – Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has called for a peaceful and violence-free 2024 general election, urging all Ghanaians to respect the outcome of the polls.

In an interaction with some Journalists on Sunday, November 17, he emphasized the importance of maintaining calm during the voting process and accepting the results to safeguard the nation’s democracy.

Kufuor expressed hope for a smooth electoral process, reminding citizens that ultimate power lies with the people and that unity and peace should prevail during and after the elections.

“It is essential for everyone to line up calmly to exercise their voting rights on election day. Electoral violence is unacceptable, and I hope for a peaceful election process.

“We must acknowledge that genuine power resides with the populace, and it is crucial to accept the results, regardless of personal preferences. I urge all participants to prioritize peace during this election.”

Ghana’s elections are scheduled for December 7, with the contest primarily between Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic.
