President Akufo-Addo has affirmed that the government will prioritise addressing the concerns of the labour force to foster a conducive environment.

This year’s May Day celebration centres on the theme “Election 2024: The Role of Workers And Social Partners In Securing Peaceful Elections for National Development”.

Speaking to workers in Accra during the 2024 May Day celebration, President Akufo-Addo emphasised his administration’s dedication to safeguarding the country’s peace and security.

The President praised workers for their contributions to the country’s growth and success, emphasising their significant role in national affairs.

He stated that ensuring peace is not only crucial for election campaigns but also essential for the stability of the labour sector. “A peaceful and stable labour sector will create a conducive environment for the government to implement its policies and programs, and for the economy to thrive.”

“The government hereby reaffirms its commitment to addressing labour concerns in the interest of national development,” stated President Akufo-Addo.

He added, “The 23 percent increase in base pay in the first half of the year, followed by a 25 percent increase in the second half, demonstrates the government’s dedication to enhancing and safeguarding public sector incomes.”
